Plastic doll with traditional costume of Euboea.
Euboea as a large island, with a multi-geological structure, has many traditional costumes.
The costume of Kimi (Kato Panagia) consists of the black folded polished outfit, the “doula”. This costume was established around 1850 in the area and from Kymi was spread to the neighboring settlements, up to Skyros. A crimson cotton, inner trimrilene short shirt is covered by a second, transparent and all-embroidered tattoo. The dress is sleeveless with a wide tuft and is complemented by a jacket, woven with felt, velvet or satin. In the head they wore a tseper with thin, yellow or oil cloaks, a muslin of cotton and a colorful, silky lace of the needle, called bibila. A specialist manufacturer, the bimilla held the art of this lace.
