Doll Skyros

The women’s costume, which was worn by the women’s population of Skyros of the Northern Sporades during official occasions (festivals, weddings, etc.), is known as Skyros’s costume and is known in the local terminology with the names gold, altered and naff.

The costume consists of the silk-embroidered inner shirt, the short lace coat (also known as the medenne), the good shirt made of two types of fabrics, the cap (silk fabric that served as a part of the costume), the multi- the sleeveless jacket that was sometimes made of precious materials. The costume is complemented by a four-part headband, the white cotton scarf, the red silk scarf, the silk sliver and the head hood, which is the most important piece of the headband. The decoration of the costume is completed by a gold belt and silver locks as well as by the jewelery of the head.
