Neolithic Woman from Farsala
14.00€
Clay figurine of a seated female figure found in Farsala, Thessaly. Located in Athanasakeion Archaeological Museum of Volos city and dated to 5800 – 5300 BC. Represents a woman sitting on the ground in comfortable position with hands resting on her knees. At the same time the body and the head gives the sculpture a sense of movement and vitality, escaping from static. It reminds us a picture of our memory, some Thessalian grandmother, a photo from Takis Tloupas in Thessaly. The woman from Farsala became a Greek stamp in 1975 for the “International Year of Women”.
