Whirligig
29.00€
Stromvos or whirligig as it is known nowadays, is an ancient greek toy (8th cent. B.C.) played mainly by boys. Ancient Greeks considered this game as a mean of self-education, that is why they gave a great importance to the game’s role. The earliest reference in whirligig is in Iliad where Homer compares the spin of a stone that Ajax the Telamon hurtles with the characteristic move of a whirligig before it stops rotating. Stromvos was made of wood, brass or clay. Ceramic stromvos was found in the Troy excavations.
